Assumptions/Framework of the VPP Project

“People fail to get along because they fear each other;
they fear each other because they don't know each other;
they don't know each other because
they have not communicated with each other.”

-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  “… consider the welfare of the community as one’s own ...
 that if pain or injury afflicts any member of that body,
 it must inevitably result in suffering for all the rest.”

-Bahá’í Writings

“Let them see no one as their enemy, or as wishing them ill,
but think of all humankind as their friends; regarding
the alien as an intimate, the stranger as a companion,
staying free of prejudice, drawing no lines.”

- Bahá’í Writings

Goals of the VPP Project

1) To use the powerful non-verbal medium of photography as a vehicle for veteran conflict transformation.

2) To bring attention to the perspectives, challenges, hopes and needs of veterans.

3) To extend veteran’s web of positive relationships into the greater community through collaborative and creative photographic expression.

4) To help veterans begin to reclaim the fullness of their human identity and potential for peace.

5) To create opportunities for non-veterans to learn and enrich their own humanity through contact with the veteran experience.
